We came across a recognition of Girl Scouts of America donating their time and energy to Knots of Love, making blankets for newly diagnosed oncology patients. Think about this if you will. We could probably overload our servers with the good that GSA does on a weekly basis across our nation. That doesn't even address what these wonderful little ladies do on a global scale through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.
To give you a little history, the Girl Scouts of America program was started back in 1912 by a lady named Juliette Gordon in Savannah, Georgia. When it first started, there were only 18 members in the Girl Scouts of America program. Now, according to www.girlscouts.org there are more than 3.4 members worldwide. That is 3.4 million girls being instilled with and we quote "leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth."
When we stop to consider the sheer power behind the number of young people who devote hundreds of hours of their lives to doing good in the name of Girl Scouts of America, we are stunned. If you know of any philanthropy efforts that have involved the Girl Scouts community, we implore you to recognize them, or even better, learn how you can get involved. So go forth friends and Recognize Good. Our youth deserve our awareness and our support!
